Update on life

Well it's been a while since I've blogged and I'm so sorry! Life has been busy with the addition of Thomas, schooling, water gun fights, playing in the sprinkler, going to nature club and watching many episodes of Avatar: The Last Air Bender are keeping us busy. I've also been battling with Postpartum Depressions (yep, PPD is NOT a myth). I'm on medication and we're making many lifestyle changes to help change my body's internal chemistry to help level me out. We're eating more healthfully (lots and LOTS of fruit and vegetables - very very little processed foods) adding some "superfoods" to our diets (like coconut oil and maca root) and making sure to get in some strenuous exercise as often as possible. I have to admit, I wake up every morning feeling pretty apathetic about life, but Nathaniel has been dragging me out of bed (at my own request) so we can do high intensity workouts together. It's been AMAZING what that does for me! The endorphins are really starting to make themselves known in the way that I feel for the rest of the day. I'm also trying to reduce my body fat (I've got a pretty high percentage of body fat right now) which the working out will help with as well as eating moderately. If you know me at all, you know I like FOOD and SUGAR in particular. So I'm retraining my palate and counting my calories (and you'd be surprised at how much I *GET* to eat!).

Here I'd like to insert a little plug for www.BeachBody.com and TurboFire in particular. NO I don't get paid to promote them (yet LOL) but they're awesome! They really know how to give you the tools you need and will SUPPORT you on your journey to being healthy and maintaining health (through your own personal Beach Body Coach). Having not only Nathaniel, but our personal beach body coach to support me as been huge (here's a shout out to Bob Shabasson who cheers Nathaniel and myself on daily - follow him on twitter!). I'm also trying to surround myself with other people who are not just trying to survive, but to THRIVE and IMPROVE.

Also, we've signed ourselves up to a local homeschooling co-op community called "Classical Conversations" . I've heard about it for 4 years now from many different homeschooling friends and we're finally taking the plunge and trying it out this year because I've accepted that in this season of life, I really need the HELP! I encourage you to check it out, even if you're a seasoned homeschooler and ESPECIALLY if you're new to homeschooling. It might be just the thing you need to get started or to get out of a rut you might be stuck in.

Anyway, so that's my life in a nutshell these days. I hope to post more often now that life is kind of settling into a rhythm.
